Same-Day Immediate Dentures

If you lose most of your teeth due to tooth decay or gum disease, same-day immediate dentures in Toronto can be an excellent temporary option while you wait for your permanent denture appliance.

After a dentist extracts your teeth, you must allow several months of healing before custom permanent dentures can be made. You won’t have to go without teeth though! In the meantime, you can wear same-day dentures offered by Dentures Direct.

Extraction with Immediate Dentures: What to Expect

When you start your journey toward custom-made permanent dentures from Dentures Direct,
you can expect to go through the following steps:

Molar Teeth Extractions

First, most or all of the patient’s back teeth are removed, and extraction sites are allowed to heal for six or more weeks.

Fabrication of Immediate Dentures

Next, the immediate dentures unit is fabricated.

Final Extraction & denture placement

The remaining teeth are extracted, and immediate dentures are placed in the mouth on the same day.

Pain management

Any discomfort after dental extractions can be managed with proper anesthesia and pain medication. Wearing immediate dentures over extraction sites is no more uncomfortable than having extractions alone.

Immediate denture adjustments

As the bone and gum tissues are healing, it is common for the jawbone to shrink. This means that immediate dentures might need to be readjusted while you wait for your permanent ones.

Healing

Depending on the extraction locations and the individual healing rate, you may need to wait three to six months before permanent dentures can be fabricated.

Permanent dentures

Finally, a second, permanent, set of dentures can be fabricated. After the healing is complete, the denturist will take exact impressions of your mouth and fabricate custom denture appliances with optimal fit and aesthetics.
